Paparoa Street School offers strong music and drama programmes

Music and drama

Our music programmes at Paparoa Street School give plenty of opportunities for pupils to create, perform, and listen to a wide variety of musical genres. The emphasis is always on developing skills and understanding through varied performance programmes including choral, instrumental music, and movement activities.

Some of the wonderful musical experiences that pupils can try include school orchestra, senior and junior choirs, itinerant music lessons in guitar, piano/keyboard and violin; participation in the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival; opportunities for choirs and orchestras to perform at special assemblies; our annual music soirée where our musical talent is show-cased; and the annual presentation of the School Music Cup.
